Objections September 05
The Babylon Lounge – Kingsway -Sackville Road Conservation Area
The first application for this site was in September 03 and the Society objected to the overall increase in height and size from 327m2 to 830m2. Many of our members living locally were concerned that the increase in activity and the late night exit from the building would further increase the noise and nuisance levels. We also commented that the height increase would overshadow the low lying adjacent greens and establish a precedent for future developments on the seaward side of the Kingsway
The planning office refused the application and it went to appeal but was again dismissed by the government inspector
A
second application is due to be presented shortly and reviewed by our
planning monitoring group. A visual representation appeared in the
Argus newspaper but when the plans are presented and discussed at CAG
(Conservation Advisory Group) we will be update the site.
An
application has been made for demolition of the existing building ( The
Festive Restaurant ) for the erection of a five storey block of flats.
An objection has been made by the society on the basis of poor design
Brunswick Street
Application has been made for two semi-detached houses on the site of
59 Brunswick Street West and 33A Brunswick Square. This is a second
application and the Society has again commented as these plans do not
address the objections previously made
