Trees & Development Sites

A consultation meeting regarding a Supplementary Planning Document for guidelines on Trees and Development Sites was held on the 7th April. 2006

The aim of the document is to ensure that developers and planners not only identify trees but state a type and include other factors such as age, quality and canopy spread. The safety of trees retained on a site was discussed and the placement of new trees has to be indicated. The felling of trees for development is always an emotive issue and the process required was explained by the arboriculturists. Questions from the meeting were comprehensive and varied and it is hoped that the final document will be worthwhile.
